A Central Florida defendant was convicted in an attempted bank robbery, and a Crimestoppers tip helped detectives solve the case.
After a two-day trial, a Volusia County jury found defendant Henry Collier guilty as charged of Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony, Attempted Robbery with a Firearm Wearing a Mask and Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Injury. Immediately following the verdict, the defendant was sentenced to life in prison as a Prison Releasee Reoffender, Violent Career Criminal, Habitual Felony Offender, Habitual Violent Felony Offender and three-time Violent Felony Offender.
On March 11, 2024, Collier went into a bank off of Ridgewood Avenue in Edgewater wearing a long wig and a face mask. He was also carrying a bag with a handgun.
When Collier approached the counter, he placed a note in front of a teller that said “no dye packs” and “I will kill you”. When another teller approached him, Collier began to pull out the gun and verbally threatened to kill them.
