Quick Action by Law Enforcement Leads to Safe Return of Kidnapped Child in Ocala

A quick response by multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the safe return of a young child who was allegedly kidnapped by their biological father, Ali Scarborough, 26, from a diner in Ocala.

According to the Ocala Police Department (OPD), Scarborough approached his child and the child’s grandmother at the diner. He then pushed the grandmother to the ground and took the child from the restaurant. OPD officers discovered a court order was in place prohibiting Scarborough from contacting the child.

OPD immediately issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert to surrounding agencies. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), with the assistance of their Air One unit, joined the search. The vehicle was located in Alachua County by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and Scarborough was apprehended during a high-risk traffic stop.
