Rowdy patron arrested after causing scene at restaurant in The Villages

A rowdy patron was arrested after causing a scene at a restaurant in The Villages.

Michael Anthony Zoppy, 43, of Wildwood, was behaving in a “loud and belligerent” manner Wednesday night at Gator’s Dockside at Brownwood when a manager asked him to leave, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

A police officer attempted to escort Zoppy from the restaurant, but instead of cooperating, Zoppy yanked his arm free from the officer’s grasp. He then reached over and poked the officer in the chest. The officer tried to retake Zoppy’s arm, but he pulled away a second time.

The officer ordered Zoppy to step outside, but he lunged at the officer in a “very aggressive manner.” After Zoppy was placed in the back of a squad car, diners at the restaurant said they were “very disturbed” by Zoppy’s behavior and some said they “were afraid of what he was going to do prior to law enforcement arrival,” the report said…
