DUI suspect arrested after pulling over to sleep off three vodka drinks

A Wildwood man was arrested after admitting to having three vodka drinks at a bar in Ocala before pulling over in Groveland to sleep.

A deputy spotted a blue Toyota with its emergency flashing ambers on parked near the wood line of U.S. Hwy. 27, Groveland, at around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He made a U-turn and approached the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Jeremy Luna.

The vehicle appeared to be in accessory mode and not running at the time. As the deputy got closer to the driver’s side door, he observed Luna reclined in the driver’s seat asleep behind the wheel. After several knocks on the window, he finally woke up and followed the commands given to him, the report said.

The deputy also noticed what looked like remnants of vomit outside the door. Luna rolled down the window, and the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. He questioned Luna, asking why the vehicle was parked on the side of the road like it was, the report said…
