N.J. man arrested after alleged attack at his home in The Villages

A New Jersey man was arrested after an alleged attack on a woman in The Villages.

Brian James Gagnon, 80, was arrested on a felony charge of battery Thursday at his home in the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Miona.

A 77-year-old woman went to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Annex at County Road 466 and Morse Boulevard to report an attack which she said took place on April 24. She said they had been at the home in The Villages when she asked Gagnon for information, according to an arrest report. Gagnon, who stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 260 pounds, responded by grabbing the woman’s right arm with both of his hands and “squeezed tightly.” When she pulled away, she fell to the ground. She suffered bruising on her arm.

Gagnon, who was identified by his New Jersey driver’s license, was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $500 bond…
