A Leesburg woman was arrested on a warrant for battery Thursday after allegedly hitting her cousin with a baton during an argument at her home.
On the morning of April 27, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery at 804 Montclair Rd., Leesburg, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Monica Denise Felton seated outside the front door and covered in blood which seemed to be coming from her head. She appeared to be intoxicated, with slurred speech, glossy eyes and impaired movements.
Felton advised that her cousin was at her home having drinks when he picked up a Slap Jack baton and started hitting her. She stated these actions were unprovoked, indicating that he struck her without any reason. The affidavit noted that she refused to give a sworn written statement but wanted to press charges against her cousin.
On April 28, a detective went to Felton’s home regarding the altercation. She advised that both she and her cousin were in her bedroom. She was under the covers wearing a nightgown while he sat on the edge of the bed rolling a marijuana cigarette, the affidavit said…
