A Mascotte man was arrested for DUI after leaving scrape marks that swerved across the roadway from driving on a rim with a flat tire.
An officer observed the driver of a dark-colored vehicle, later identified as 47-year-old Ryan Dillion Richardson, traveling south on Palmetto Street around 12:35 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The vehicle had a flat tire and continued to drive on the rim.
Another officer came to the scene and observed scrape marks on the street consistent with contact from a vehicle rim. He followed these marks westbound on Dixie Avenue leading to 14th and South Streets. The track then continued through the Walgreens parking lot, located 900 S. 14th St., and proceeded south onto U.S. Highway 27, the report said.
While tracking the vehicle, it appeared the scrape marks indicated the vehicle was swerving across the roadway. They led onto County Road 33 where the officer found the vehicle without working taillights. He also saw sparks coming from the right side of the vehicle, the report said…
