Homeless man allegedly puts girlfriend in headlock in attack near park in Leesburg

A homeless man in Leesburg was arrested for battery after allegedly putting his girlfriend in a headlock and punching her near Rogers Park.

An officer responded to a battery that had just happened at 607 W Dixie Ave., near Rogers Park, at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he met the female victim who advised that her boyfriend, 28-year-old Elliot Javier Garcia, physically battered her before fleeing the area on foot.

The victim further stated Garcia headed westbound toward 14th Street and gave a description of his clothes. Lake County EMS was also contacted due to her experiencing pain and a visible face injury, the report said.

Another officer ultimately found Garcia walking westbound on the sidewalk and detained him. Meanwhile, the victim explained she was sitting in her vehicle on her lunch break when Garcia approached, demanding to speak with her. An argument followed, and as he appeared to walk away, he suddenly charged at her from behind and pushed her down a hill toward the lake, the report said…
