Construction worker from Honduras arrested for driving without license

A construction worker from Honduras was arrested after he was caught driving without a license in Wildwood.

Jose Antonio Orellana Canales, 37, of Pine Castle, was driving a silver Ford utility vehicle at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday in the area of County Road 462 and County Road 466A when a deputy ran the license plate number and discovered the vehicle’s registered owner does not have a driver’s license, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

During a traffic stop, Orellana Canales handed the deputy a Honduran identification card. The deputy confirmed that Orellana Canales does not have driver’s license. The deputy also learned that Orellana Canales has been living in Florida for a year, and although he does not have a work visa or a passport, he is “gainfully employed with a construction company.”…
