A Leesburg woman was arrested after trying to flee from a deputy when he found her trespassing at her parents’ property.
A deputy responded to Sunnyside Drive, Leesburg, regarding a trespasser around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch got a call from a man who advised that his sister, 42-year-old Stephanie Lynn Armstrong, was on his parents’ property and had been trespassed before. She would likely run once she saw responding units.
Once parked parallel to the residence on Sunnyside Drive, the deputy saw Armstrong seated in a chair within the backyard. The deputy got out of his patrol vehicle, and he made eye contact with her. She abruptly stood up from her chair and moved to the west side of the backyard, exiting the fenced portion and heading westbound on Highland Avenue, the report said.
The deputy intercepted Armstrong between two properties at 6231 Highland Ave. and 6185 Sunnyside Dr., at which point she was detained. She was read her rights but did not wish to speak with law enforcement. The homeowner wanted to press charges.
