A Leesburg man was arrested for allegedly battering a woman pregnant with his child because she wanted to move in with another man.
An officer responded to a battery called in by a witness at an undisclosed apartment in Lake County around 12:05 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch advised that a man, later identified as 26-year-old Zerchancy Leroy Cherry, had battered a woman and was actively on top of her on the ground.
Upon arrival, the officer met with the pregnant female victim who was out of breath, distraught and had a scratch on her bottom lip. She stated Cherry was inside his room, and he had firearms inside the residence. Shortly after she said this, the officer saw Cherry leaving through the bedroom window on the side of the apartment near the front door, the report said.
Cherry was subsequently detained and separated from the victim. The officer began his investigation by speaking with him while assisting officers checked on the well-being of the victim and began preliminary interviews, the report said…
