In partial response to Terrance Gordon’s take on those who are unhappy with our amenities rising and not being capped and his suggestion to go elsewhere – Many of us who bought in the Lake Sumter area around 2010 were told by our “Villages” agents that the amenities would not being going up and that there would not be any further development past Brownwood.
Those were two good things to be told; but not true. OK, those were our somewhat recent “good old days.” The rub comes in when we in the now northern areas look at the massive development to the south and feel that our higher amenity fees are paying for so much to get done down past State Road 44. Listening to residents in the older northern sections claim that they didn’t have amenities go up like ours are now makes me wonder “Why the shift?” Who is paying for what – exactly? Is everything transparent? Can we see records of budgets and bids and contracts or do you need to be on a committee or in management to see it all and decipher it on your own?…
