Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Gun Charges in Ocala

A routine traffic stop early this morning in Ocala resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man on drug and firearm charges.

Around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, deputies I. Minck and K. Sosa pulled over a vehicle in the 1100 block of NE 3rd Avenue for a traffic infraction. They identified the driver as Erik Baker, 36, and also made contact with a passenger.

While speaking with the passenger, deputies noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car. Baker denied having any illegal drugs or firearms. Based on the odor, deputies conducted a probable cause search of both Baker and the vehicle…
