A 16-year-old boy from Ocala who attended North Marion High School drowned last week while attempting to swim across a local rock quarry.
On Friday, June 20, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Marion County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the quarry, which was located in the 6000 block of N U.S. Highway 441 in Ocala, in reference to a drowning, according to an MCSO incident report.
Upon arrival, one of the MCSO deputies made contact with a female who advised that her friend, Reshon Keonte Reese, had attempted to swim across the water to the eastern bank. According to the friend, Reese began “treading water” and “pleading for help” when he neared the bank…
