I wanted to share an idea for all you Villagers out there. Recently I was out and about in my neighborhood and I stopped a Village worker that I have seen several times on my walks. He tends to the sprinkler system on a main road where I live. I have passed several times in the year and a half we have lived here. He always greets me with a smile and a, “Hello Ma’am.” I see him out there in his long sleeves, long pants and hat, while I am out there in my least amount of clothing due to the sweat rolling off every inch of my body.
Anyway I stopped him and said how I think about him at Christmas because he gets cheated in my opinion. We tip our garbage men and other workers we have servicing our home. But I don’t see him around at that time. I gave him a small tip of the cash I was carrying with me. I said that not only do I appreciate his friendly smile and politeness, but I appreciate the hard work he puts in for the maintenance of our community.
I have researched working for The Villages and their pay again in my opinion is not the greatest. I came from a Midwest state. The point is please if you have the means, give to the workers out there in the summer heat. Planting flowers, mowing, working on sprinklers or anyone you see out there working hard…
