A Villager has been sentenced after shoving a dog walker at Brownwood Paddock Square.
Bruce Belden Way, 72, of the Sandhill Villas in the Village of Duval, pleaded no contest to a charge of battery this past week in Sumter County Court. He has been placed on probation for one year.
A man said he had been walking his dog on the sidewalk at about 7 p.m. April 4 at Brownwood when he “bumped shoulders” with Belden, who was walking in the opposite direction, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The dog walker said he said, “Excuse me.”
However, Way, “in an intentionally aggressive manner,” shoved the dog walker’s right shoulder, causing him to stumble backward, the report said. Way told police that the dog walker “intentionally ran into him” and Way claimed he was “just trying to protect his girlfriend.”…
