Off-Duty Deputy Resigns after Arrest for Fake Tag on Motorcycle in Central Florida

An off-duty deputy recently resigned after an arrest for having a fake tag on a motorcycle in Central Florida.

The off-duty Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested for riding a motorcycle with a fictitious tag and resigned in lieu of termination from employment.

Erica Muzzy was stopped on westbound I-4 near Deltona riding a motorcycle with a tag that was flipped up and not visible. When flipped down, the tag read “CHASEM3.”

Prior to the traffic stop, Muzzy had been involved in an earlier incident in Deltona. A deputy spotted a motorcycle rider at Wawa on Howland Blvd. who had fled from an attempted traffic stop earlier in the evening. While being detained, that rider called out to Muzzy, who was with his group of riders, and who became argumentative with the deputy conducting the investigation…
