Villager working as salesman charged with fraud in sale of golf cart

A Villager who had been working as a salesman in a golf cart store is charged with defrauding a customer of $21,000.

Leonard Peter Fletcher, 50, of the Village of Lynnhaven, was arrested this past week on warrants charging him with fraud and grand theft.

A customer went in January to One Stop Golf Carts in Wildwood where Fletcher was working as a salesman, according to an affidavit of probable cause from the Wildwood Police Department. Fletcher told the customer he could assist with the purchase of a custom KW-K100 golf cart. The customer provided Fletcher with a $15,000 check in January and a $6,000 check in February. Both checks were deposited at Citizens First Bank. The checks were made out to Fletcher.

The customer never got his golf cart and Fletcher stopped communicating with him. He called the police…
