A suspect has been tracked down in the wake of a road rage attack in The Villages.
Byron Scott West, 64, of Vienna, Ga., is facing charges of throwing a deadly missile into a vehicle and criminal mischief following the violent incident which occurred Sept. 20 at the intersection of State Road 44 and Morse Boulevard.
West was at the wheel of a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup towing a trailer when he pulled up alongside another vehicle and rolled down his window, according to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The other driver rolled down his passenger window. The two drivers began “exchanging words,” prompting West to throw an unknown object which contained liquid at the other vehicle, damaging the front passenger window. Damage was later estimated at $250.
West drove away, but not before the other driver was able to snap a photo of his truck. West’s truck had the lettering “Scott’s Wholesale” and displayed a U.S. Department of Transportation number. That number helped a detective find the truck’s license plate number and eventually a copy of West’s driver’s license.
