Wildwood man arrested after attack sends woman to Brownwood ER

A Wildwood man was arrested for battery after an alleged attack on a woman that sent her to UF Health Brownwood Emergency Room.

Deputies responded to Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Wildwood, regarding a battery around noon Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, they met with the female victim who advised that she and 33-year-old Sidney Rivers Williams got into a verbal altercation earlier in the morning.

During the argument, Williams began to scream and cuss at her. She tried to get her belongings from the back bedroom of the residence to leave, and he followed her. He stood behind her while continuing to argue, the report said.

He then closed the door behind him and stood in front of it so she could not leave. She tried to open the door multiple times to no avail, as he forcefully pushed the door to keep it closed. She was eventually able to get out of the bedroom, but he followed her into the living room, the report said…
