Oxford Oaks man lands behind bars after not buckling his seatbelt

An Oxford Oaks man landed behind bars after he failed to buckle his seatbelt.

James Stevens, 50, was driving a white Ford F-150 on Tuesday afternoon when he was pulled over at the Circle K on Buenos Aires Boulevard in The Villages when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputies noticed that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

During the traffic stop, the deputy discovered that Stevens has been classified as a habitual traffic offender and his license has been revoked for five years. The Wisconsin native’s driving record includes four convictions for driving under the influence and nine convictions for driving while license suspended.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on a felony charge of driving while license suspended. He was released after posting $2,500 bond…
