Loud music dispute on Bird Island ends with shots fired into air

A Summerfield man was arrested on a warrant Wednesday after firing multiple rounds into the air at his neighbor’s house over loud music.

A deputy responded to a disturbance involving 35-year-old Steven Michael Clavette at 24 SE Ocale Way, Summerfield, at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with Clavette’s neighbor who stated he got into a verbal argument with Clavette over loud music playing at the residence. The neighbor was on the back porch when Clavette tried to get the attention of him and the group he was with by shining a flashlight at them from next door. He went over to Clavette’s property, located at 26 SE Ocale Way, where the verbal altercation began at the property line, the report said.

Clavette got very exasperated while speaking to the group about the loud music. He started to walk away and pointed a firearm in the air, firing a shot. The neighbor was about 10 yards away and took cover behind a vehicle close by. Clavette then walked to the front of his neighbor’s yard and fired two more rounds, the report said…
