The gates are a necessary part of The Villages no matter whether they are manned or not. The biggest issue is golf carts. This is a golf cart community, which is the main reason we moved here. If there are no gates, I would not feel safe driving one. When a gate is down too many people go through the gates fast and don’t even stop. Plus I enjoy waving to the attendant. It’s part of living in The Villages. When we first checked it out it was a gated community, when we finally bought it was not. I think the gates should remain in place. They serve a very important purpose.
