Homeless woman says she has a right to trespass on family member’s property

A homeless woman in Leesburg was arrested for trespassing on a family member’s property despite claiming she had a right to be there.

Deputies received a call about a trespasser causing a disturbance at on Sunnyside Drive in Leesburg, around 10:15 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy responded to the property to find 42-year-old Stephanie Lynn Armstrong standing near the front porch.

When she saw the deputy, she quickly walked away and refused his commands to stop. He was able to catch up and arrest her with minimal force. More deputies then arrived on scene to speak with the victim, a family member of hers, the report said.

The family member advised that Armstrong had been trespassed from the property before. She came back uninvited, banging on the front door and demanding to be let in. He refused to open the door, told her to leave and that LCSO had been called. She continued to yell and curse at him, the report said…
