Suspect throws glass pipe with cocaine out of window during traffic stop

A Wildwood man was arrested on drug charges after throwing a glass pipe with cocaine out of his window during a traffic stop.

A deputy spotted a gray Honda passenger car headed east on State Road 44 at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, 46-year-old Bryan Allan Smith, was not wearing a seatbelt and drove onto edge line pavement marking.

Due to this, the deputy turned on his emergency equipment for a traffic stop. Smith appeared to throw something onto the roadway a short time later. This unknown object was thrown about 10 yards south of the vehicle’s final stop, the report said.

Smith claimed he was nervous and threw a cigar package out of the window. However, the deputy found a glass pipe with cocaine on the road. The pipe was destroyed from hitting the pavement after being thrown from a moving vehicle, the report said…
