Daughter accuses Ocala nursing home of mother’s wrongful death

A daughter claims her mother suffered “extreme pain and suffering” before her “untimely death” at an Ocala nursing home last year, accusing the facility of negligent care that led to her mother developing hypotension, sepsis, E. coli, and a urinary tract infection just weeks before her death.

Attorneys filed the lawsuit on behalf of Martha Bunge and her late mother, Haydee Duarte, against Palm Garden of Ocala, LLC, in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on June 30.

According to the complaint, Duarte was admitted to Palm Garden of Ocala (2700 SW 34th Street) on September 17, 2017. Upon admission, care plans were put in place which “focused on preventing urinary incontinence and skin breakdown.” Those plans included monitoring for potential causes of incontinence, observing for urinary tract infection (UTI) symptoms, and changes in behavior…
