A mother was arrested for theft after she and her juvenile daughter stole $188 in makeup and clothes from Target at Rolling Acres Plaza.
An officer responded to Target regarding an active theft at 7:20 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. An asset protection specialist advised that 40-year-old Stephanie Marie Murray of Tavares and her 12-year-old daughter were in a dressing room, concealing products.
The specialist saw the pair come into the store with an empty backpack. They put items in the shopping cart, then took them to the changing room to put them in the backpack. The changing room was checked after they left by Target staff to make sure the product had been concealed, the report said.
