Rebuffed 82-year-old seeks revenge on waitress at local restaurant

An Oxford man was arrested on a warrant Monday for allegedly pouring sugar water in the gas tank of a waitress who rejected his marriage proposal.

On July 4, a waitress at Gator Bay Bar & Grille, located at 10320 CR 44, Leesburg, was working while her gray 2015 Lincoln sedan was parked on the north side of the building, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. At 3:42 p.m., 82-year-old Charles Dixon Kell was seen on the restaurant’s surveillance camera system.

He stood near the back of her vehicle and poured a liquid into the fuel neck of the fuel system. He then walked toward the building with the bottle in hand and threw it into a nearby trashcan. After discovering this, the waitress immediately called law enforcement and reported it, the affidavit said.

She also took her vehicle to Gary Yeoman’s Ford dealership in The Villages for proper diagnosis and repairs. She gave the repair order to a detective with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and it advised that the liquid was consistent with sugar water that crystallized in the fuel filler neck. This required the fuel tank and fuel pump to be removed for repairs, which cost $1,550, the affidavit said…
