A Leesburg pair was arrested on drug charges after being stopped with methamphetamine and unprescribed pills.
Officers paced 41-year-old Amanda Nicole Walters and 24-year-old Travis Jamine Moore in a gray Hyundai passenger car around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. They were going 58 mph in the 40-mph zone of U.S. Hwy 27/441 and County Road 466.
The officers initiated a traffic stop and smelled fresh marijuana coming from inside the vehicle upon his approach. They asked Walters and Moore if they had a medical marijuana. Moore stated he did but could not hand it over, the report said.
Walters then gave the officer permission to search the vehicle, and both occupants stepped out of the vehicle. As Moore got out, he reached over to the driver’s seat with his right hand, grabbed a clear plastic baggie and put it in his pocket. One officer told the other about this, and they emptied his pockets before escorting him away from the vehicle, the report said…
