Nervous passenger busted with hidden meth and pipe during traffic stop

A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after being caught with meth and a pipe in his possession during a traffic stop.

A deputy stopped a black 2007 Ford pickup truck in the area of Westmont Road and County Road 473 in Leesburg at 1:20 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The truck, whose passenger was later identified as 53-year-old Charles Derek Fueri, had no visible tag lights.

While pulling the vehicle over, the deputy immediately put a spotlight on the back window and saw Fueri making furtive movements. He spoke with the female driver and saw Fueri sitting with both of his legs closed together. He looked nervous, the report said.

The deputy explained the reason for the stop to the driver and asked for ID. He also asked if she had any weapons or narcotics in the vehicle, to which she advised that she did not. When asked if he could search the vehicle, she turned to Fueri who told her no, the report said…
