Man allegedly attacks girlfriend when asked why he was at apartment complex

A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly attacking his girlfriend when she asked what he was doing at an apartment complex.

An officer responded to a local apartment complex, regarding a battery in progress around 9:10 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Dispatch advised that 32-year-old Jordan Richard Bedford was fighting with his girlfriend in front of the apartment complex laundromat. They had separated but started struggling again.

The officer arrived on scene to see the girlfriend sitting near the front entrance of the apartment’s laundromat area. She seemed to be out of breath. A witness began pointing to her and stated Bedford took off into one of the apartments, the report said.

The officer spoke to the girlfriend who stated Bedford left the residence that morning and said he was going to pick up his son. She texted him to let him know she was leaving the house but got no reply. She later left a gas station in Lady Lake and saw his vehicle, so she called him. Again, she got no answer, the report said…
