Driver with suspended license arrested near Mulberry Grove Plaza

A Summerfield man was arrested near a shopping plaza in The Villages after being stopped for driving on a suspended license.

A deputy spotted a blue Scion XB traveling east on Southeast Highway 42 near Mulberr6 Grove Plaza around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag showed the registered owner, 54-year-old Ramon Lanza, had a suspended driver’s license.

A traffic stop was subsequently initiated on SE 97th Avenue at Southeast 164th Place. Lanza handed over his driver’s license, and the deputy confirmed it had been suspended for financial responsibility on Feb. 11. Another deputy had issued Lanza a written warning for unknowingly driving on a suspended license on April 8, the report said.

Lanza later denied knowledge of the suspension and the warning he received from the other deputy, the report said…
