A Leesburg woman was arrested after crashing through a bush on the way to get gas and slipping out of handcuffs when caught.
An officer responded to a traffic crash involving 22-year-old Jenesy Hernandez at North 14th Street and West North Boulevard at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officer saw a black Volkswagen with front end damage. A street sign was knocked on the ground nearby, and a small bush appeared to be driven through. Hernandez was still inside the vehicle behind the wheel, the report said.
The officer approached her to find she had slurred speech, droopy eyelids and an odor of alcohol. She stated she was driving to the gas station because she needed gas, and he looked to the dashboard to see she had about a quarter of a tank.
