I know I have written this before, some years ago. For those of you in The Villages who complain about “outsiders” getting in your “gated” communities, shopping and enjoying the entertainment at “your” town squares, you need to remember you can’t change that! Your streets, roads, shops, and entertainment are ALL open to the public. You have no true “Gated Villages or Communities” that can keep others out. You are NOT ON PRIVATE ROADS, THEY ARE PUBLIC.
The Villages sold you a story of being in your “own little community” making you believe you are in a bubble and no one else, but you, can play there, shop there, or drive there. In the 13 years I’ve lived in Water Oak in Lady Lake I’ve heard it and read about this over and over. I really don”t mean to burst your bubble but The Villages is like any other town … visitors ARE allowed to drive down your PUBLIC roads, shop in whatever stores are in your town and yes even enjoy the free entertainment or whatever is going on in your PUBLIC squares. The gates are more for “show” there… They can’t keep anyone out and are in no way protecting you from the “outsiders” as you call them. That won’t change because (LET ME SAY IT AGAIN)
THEY ARE PUBLIC NOT PRIVATE STREETS AND ROADS in The Villages…
