A Lady Lake man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm at a man selling gold jewelry at Wawa.
Officers responded to Wawa at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 466 regarding a report of 46-year-old James Brian Lacey holding a man at gunpoint around 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The man allegedly ripped him off selling him gold.
Upon arrival, the officers found a white GMC Denali pickup truck. Lacey was standing outside and pointed in the direction of the victim. They were both temporarily detained pending further investigation, the report said.
The victim stated he was trying to sell gold chains, which led to him and Lacey pulling over near the Wawa gas pumps. Lacey approached his driver’s side door and brandished a firearm, saying he had a gun, the victim was not going anywhere and he was calling the police.
