Two people were arrested with drugs in the parking lot of the new Costco in The Villages.
Jon Eric Duranko, 37, of Summerfield, was driving a silver Buick Lacrosse pulling a trailer in the wee hours Monday when a deputy noticed the vehicle had only one functional tail lamp, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot of Costco at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.
During the traffic stop, Duranko admitted his driver’s license is suspended. The deputy confirmed that Duranko’s license has been suspended since 2022 for unpaid child support and failure to pay a traffic citation. Marijuana cigarettes were found in the vehicle.
A passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old Chelsea Rae Norcoss of Ocala, was determined to be the vehicle’s owner. She acknowledged her license is also suspended and said she had allowed Duranko to drive the vehicle because she was feeling sick. She was found to be in possession of methamphetamine…
