Woman admits to having glass pipe when K-9 sniffs out narcotics at traffic stop

A woman was arrested after admitting to having a smoking pipe and narcotic baggies in her possession during a traffic stop with K-9s.

An officer spotted a black Cadillac SUV, later found to be occupied by 47-year-old Maribel Burgos of Ocala, in the area of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The headlight on the driver’s side of the vehicle was not working, so he stopped the vehicle at U.S. 301 and West Clarke Street.

He then spoke to the male driver and Burgos, both of whom were smoking cigarettes. Burgos stated she did not have her license and gave her name and date of birth instead. Using this information, the officer checked her criminal history and learned she had an extensive past with possession of narcotics, the report said.

The officer subsequently called a K-9 unit to request they sniff around to find possible narcotics. The K-9 indeed alerted to the presence of narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle. When they removed Burgos from the passenger seat, she advised that she had a glass pipe for smoking methamphetamine, the report said…
