First day sees 40,461 Marion students attend classes, 1,200 calls for bus issues

Over 40,000 students attended the first day of classes at schools across Marion County on Monday, with the district reporting that its buses traveled tens of thousands of miles and its transportation hotline received over 1,200 calls.

The figures were shared in an annual “What Went Right” press release issued by Marion County Public Schools Director of Public Relations Kevin Christian on Monday, August 11.

Christian, who has won several awards for his role with the district, sends out the yearly release to highlight the “positive stories” from the first day of classes…
