Villager released on bond after alleged violence with umbrella

A “crazy” Villager accused of using an umbrella to terrorize a man, has been released on bond.

Delores Kelley Dennis, 75, of the Village of Virginia Trace was released Wednesday afternoon from the Sumter County Detention Center after posting $2,500 bond. She is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery.

Her alleged victim sought help Tuesday at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office building at Pinellas Plaza.

The man said that Dennis “was crazy” and had been hitting him with an umbrella over the previous four days. He said there had been a “recent escalation” in the violence aimed at him. The redacted arrest report did not reveal their relationship, but described it as “domestic.”…
