Connecticut parolee in red Tesla caught speeding in Wildwood

A Connecticut parolee in a red Tesla was arrested after being stopped for speeding with a suspended license.

A deputy observed 34-year-old Colin Gibbons in a red Tesla traveling northbound on County Road 229 in Wildwood around 7:50 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Radar showed the vehicle was going 54 miles in a 45-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop at the intersection with County Road 462.

When asked for his driver’s license, Gibbons stated he did not have one. He claimed to have a Connecticut ID card instead but did not have it with him. The deputy instead used his name and date of birth for a record check, the report said.

This revealed Gibbons had an active suspension on his license. He also had an active warrant out of Connecticut for a parole violation, the report said…
