Unlicensed driver from Mexico caught speeding 24 mph over limit

An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped for speeding by 24 miles per hour.

A trooper caught 27-year-old Antonio Gaytan Lopez speeding in a white SUV at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Radar confirmed the vehicle to be going 64 miles in a 40-mph zone at County Road 44 and Forest Drive in Leesburg.

The trooper subsequently pulled the vehicle over at the entrance to Dura-Stress Inc, located at 11325 CR 44. He then asked Gaytan Lopez for his license, registration and proof of insurance. Gaytan Lopez stated he had no license, only a Mexican passport, the report said.

A record check using the passport confirmed he had no driver’s license. The trooper informed Gaytan Lopez he was under arrest and placed him in handcuffs, the report said…
