U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on an unlicensed driver from Mexico who was arrested after driving 15 miles per hour under the speed limit.
A deputy observed 65-year-old Felipe Silvas-Doroteo slowly driving a blue Kia passenger van eastbound on State Road 44 in Wildwood on Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed his speed to be 45 miles per hour in a 60-mph zone. There was also a crack in the windshield which blocked the view inside the vehicle.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and asked Silvas-Doroteo for his documentation and driver’s license. He handed over a Mexican ID card, saying he had never gotten a license in the United States.
