A Leesburg man was arrested for burglary after running behind a counter to steal Newport cigarettes at a Circle K.
An officer responded to Circle K, located at 900 S 14th St., regarding a 28-year-old Angel Luis Roman Bonilla acting suspicious around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officer met with an employee who stated Roman Bonilla told him that he accidentally locked the restroom door with his phone and cigarettes inside. The employee went to unlock the door, and Roman Bonilla ran behind the counter to grab two packs of Newport short cigarettes, the report said.
He then ran from behind the counter and turned to see a customer standing nearby. He dropped the cigarettes as well as a trespass warning he had gotten from a similar place about an hour before. The officer watched security footage that confirmed the employee’s statement, the report said…
