A Leesburg teen was arrested with a stolen firearm after he and two others were spotted parked behind an abandoned building.
An officer spotted a vehicle with its rear lights on sitting in the back parking lot of an abandoned building near Johns Avenue and McCormick Street at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The vehicle was occupied by three people, one of whom was later identified as 18-year-old Cordell Anthony Govan.
When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed the smell of burnt marijuana. He asked the occupants if they had medical marijuana cards, and they did not. They also denied having narcotics or firearms in the vehicle, the report said.
More units arrived to assist, so the officer again asked about narcotics. The driver stated they had smoked marijuana earlier that day and pulled out a multicolor bag containing marijuana residue from the vehicle’s center compartment.
