Driver with license suspended for ‘fines’ stopped at Sumter Tire & Auto

A Wildwood woman was arrested for driving with a license she knew was suspended after being stopped at Sumter Tire & Auto.

An officer spotted a silver Honda SUV with nonworking taillights turning right onto North Main Street from Cleveland Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He then stopped the driver, 37-year-old Pamela Michelle Newsom, at Sumter Tire & Auto, located at 810 N Main St.

When asked for her license, Newsom stated she did not have one because it had been suspended for “fines.” She instead handed over a North Carolina ID card and acknowledged she should not be driving, the report said.

A check of her driving history confirmed she did not have a valid driver’s license. It had been suspended, and she did not have any record out of Florida. She also had a prior failure to appear out of South Carolina in 2014, the report said…
