Police chase down flea-tab thief riding bicycle away from Tractor Supply

A Leesburg man was arrested for theft following a chase for stealing flea tabs for pets from Tractor Supply.

An employee at Tractor Supply, located at 1706 Citrus Blvd., waved down an officer regarding a theft around 12 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He had seen 40-year-old Joshua Gene Ostrander stealing from the store.

The employee explained he noticed Ostrander in the back of the store and approached him to offer help. Ostrander declined the officer, saying he was fine. A short time later, the employee saw him carrying merchandise toward the front of the store and left without paying for any of it. He was ordered to stop but ignored the commands, the report said.

Ostrander stole four boxes of Capstar Flea Tabs for Cats valued at $35.99 each and one box of Capstar Flea Tabs for Dogs valued at $35.99. He was last seen riding a bicycle southbound on Citrus Boulevard, the report said…
