A vacationer from South Dakota was arrested after a disturbance at a hotel in The Villages.
Officers were called at about 3 p.m. Tuesday to the Holiday Inn Express on Avenida Central where 59-year-old Anne Marie Zapadka of Box Elder, S.D. was in the lobby “yelling and screaming at employees” causing them to “fear for their safety,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When officers arrived on the scene, hotel employees indicated that Zapadka was not a guest at the hotel. It appeared she had been drinking. She was “obviously intoxicated and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.”
She was exhibiting “outlandish behavior and violent demeanor.” She refused to calm down.
An officer attempted to handcuff Zapadka, who stands 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds, but she resisted the officer’s efforts. She grabbed onto a nearby maintenance golf cart and refused to be placed into a patrol car. After she was placed in the car and they arrived at the Lake County Jail, Zapadka “went limp” and “refused to walk.” The officer had to carry her into the intake area at the jail.
Zapadka has detailed on her social media her recent travels in the Sunshine State, including a golf cart ride through The Villages. It appears she has been RVing with a man friend…
