Unlicensed driver with narcotics breaks gate at apartment complex to flee traffic stop

A Leesburg man was arrested after fleeing through an apartment complex to avoid being caught with narcotics.

Kendrin Delon Dixon, 39, was seen driving a black GMC Acadia around 10:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He did not have a driver’s license, and despite never having one, it had been cancelled, suspended or revoked multiple times. He was a habitual traffic offender.

An officer spotted him leaving South Winds Cove and stopped him at the Royal Oak Estates, located at 2924 Poplar Ave. Dixon began to slow roll at the entrance of the complex, which had an automatic barrier arm gate that required a passcode to get in. The vehicle then accelerated through the gate, dislodging the arm and breaking it, the report said.

Dixon proceeded to speed through the apartment complex, and officers established a perimeter using its limited exits in response. One of the officers saw him running in the direction of Ash Drive, leading to his arrest moments later. He advised that he saw a patrol vehicle behind him and turned into the complex, the report said…
