ICE slaps hold on unlicensed Nicaraguan who’s lived in Florida eight months

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on a Summerfield man who was stopped for driving without a license.

A deputy observed 31-year-old Isaias DeJesus Navarro Gonzalez driving a white Ford Escape in Wildwood at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the license plate revealed the owner did not have a valid license, leading to a traffic stop on North Main Street.

Despite a language barrier, the deputy learned Navarro Gonzalez did not have a license. He instead handed over an identification card from Nicaragua. Dispatch used this information to confirm he had never been issued a license in the United States, the report said.

Further investigation revealed Navarro Gonzalez had been living in Florida for about eight months, was gainfully employed in the Sumter County area and living in Marion County. He did not have a passport on his person or any other forms of ID, the report said…
