Two suspected thieves have been arrested at a construction site at Spanish Springs Town Square.
A Community Watch driver was on patrol at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when he noticed two people gathering construction materials from a clearly marked fenced-in area near The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center. Spanish Springs Town Square is currently undergoing a major renovation.
The two people, identified as 55-year-old David Kotowski and 54-year-old Deborah Raney, both of Summerfield, tried to claim they had a verbal agreement with the construction manager, allowing them to gather the materials, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Officers made contact with the construction supervisor who said Kotowski and Raney did not have permission to be at the site.
Kotowski has a criminal history. He was arrested in 2017 after he was found selling drugs out of a golf cart at Lowe’s. Earlier this year he was arrested after he was caught driving a golf cart on the Historic Side of The Villages…
